Three mesmerising Maths masterclasses!

Maths in Action is coming back to London, the Midlands, Manchester and Online this autumn!

Featuring talks on flight engineering, probability, statistics in the news and the maths of going viral on social media, Maths in Action promises to have something for everyone.

We are pleased to welcome Sophie Harker to speak about ‘The Future of Flight’ and Kyle Evans to explore the numbers behind viral videos.  Joining them in the Midlands, we have Emily Grossman who will be stunning us with statistics and Beth Romano who will show how a game involving different coloured hats can be used to represent error correction in data transfer.  Bobby Seagull returns to chair the Warwick University event and bring his television quiz show experience to entertaining and puzzling your students throughout the day.  For more information and tickets:

Joining Sophie and Kyle in London, we are pleased to announce that Ben Sparks will be bringing his expertise to both chair the day and to explore the beauty of spirals and circular motion.  Alex Bellos will entertain us with a new selection of puzzles and conundrums and Karen Page will explore how game theory can be applied to our understanding of evolution.  For more information and tickets:

At our new venue in Manchester, Katie Steckles will chair and give a talk about her love of fascinating fractals.  As well as Sophie and Katie, we welcome James Grime, who will look at the history of secret codes and encryption, and Ed Southall, to deliver a practical session filled with geometrical puzzles to perplex your students.  We are planning to announce one more speaker early in the new term.  For more information and tickets:

As we return to in-person events, Maths in Action continues to feature lively and enriching sessions exploring a variety of topics carefully designed to extend students’ knowledge.  A session on examination success from Paul Harrison will equip students attending each of our three events with the tools to succeed.
