Maths in Action features five lively and enriching sessions exploring a variety of topics carefully designed to extend students’ knowledge. A session on examination success will equip students with the tools to succeed, and each student will receive our handy revision guide.

Financial wizards Bobby Seagull, Secondary Maths teacher and Doctorate candidate
Bobby will share his personal experience of the financial crisis of 2008 from the trading floors of Lehman Brothers and explore financial derivatives and some of the weapons of math destruction that caused the most chaotic recession in a lifetime.
About Bobby Seagull
Bobby was an investment banking trader, chartered accountant, social entrepreneur and a semi-finalist captain on University Challenge. He is an author, TV presenter and now teaches Maths.

Join Ben to discover how circles and spirals turn up in the most surprising of places can be a source of beauty, awe and mystery as Ben explores ways in which maths can be, literally, moving.
About Ben Sparks
Ben is a mathematician, musician and teacher, based at the University of Bath. He regularly gives talks and workshops to schools. Ben still gets surprisingly excited about imaginary numbers.
