This autumn sees Art in Action return to London. During this immersive day, students will have the chance to meet and hear from four leading contemporary artists working in different areas of art and design. Through their fascinating presentations, the artists will explore their unique creative journeys, what inspires them, and how they turn an idea into a work of art. There will be plenty of time for questions and students are guaranteed to leave inspired and brimming with ideas for their own work.

Photography in a good light David Montgomery, Photographer

David Montgomery will talk about his approach as a photographer and his personal view that photography should be used to promote the positive and the beautiful rather than the gloomy and the destitute. He will share some of his favourite pictures, many of them famous but others private and unseen.

About David Montgomery
David Montgomery is an international photographer whose subjects have included many high-profile personalities, including the Rolling Stones, Margaret Thatcher, Andy Warhol, the British Royal Family, Jimi Hendrix and David Hockney. He was commissioned to photograph a special edition stamp for the millennium which won a silver award at the Design & Art Direction Awards. He has also worked for major retailers, newspapers and style-makers, including Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and the New York Times.

This interactive talk will explore the use of touch screen technologies in contemporary art, a medium famously embraced by David Hockney and espoused by an increasing number of established artists. Pioneering digital artist Roz Hall will demonstrate the techniques required to create a successful painting on a tablet or mobile device.
