Tom Shakespeare is Professor of Disability Research at the Norwich Medical School, University of East Anglia. His primary research interests are in disability studies, medical sociology, and in social and ethical aspects of genetics. He has focused on qualitative research about the lives of disabled people and the barriers that they face and led projects about disability and sexuality. He teaches topics related to health and illness in sociology. He is one of life’s great communicators and will explore health and disability as a sociological issue.
